TJ’s DJ’s hosts Celebrity Kickball Game to combat violence in the community

In the midst of various violent acts taking place throughout our communities, TJ’s DJ’s will promote their efforts to decrease street violence by hosting “Peace in the Streets Celebrity Kickball Game” to officially kick off FAMU Homecoming weekend.

Peace in the Streets will take place on Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Walker-Ford Community Center (2301 Pasco St.) from 3p – 7p. The purpose of this event is to reach out to the youth through artists of the music genre of whom they may look up to and explain that violence is not the answer. This event will be a part of the TJ’s DJ’s 15th Anniversary celebration during FAMU Homecoming weekend. The event will also feature a small concert from a mobile stage, food, and a festive atmosphere that is targeted for children ages 11-18.

“The celebrities participating in this event has fans and followers that range from the ages of 7 and up,”says TJ Chapman, CEO of TJ’s DJ’s Incorporated. “With such a microscopic lens on their actions, I felt it would be good to see them taking such a huge stand against violence.”

Several local and national artists such as rappers Double-D, M-Beezy, Thrill tha Playa, Kim D, Young Cash, Haitian Fresh and Triple C’s have already confirmed their attendance and/or participation for this event. Sponsors such as Nabisco, Kraft, Harvey’s and EA Sports have also joined forces with TJ’s DJ’s in this collective effort to stop violence.
